Bill J. Powell of Celina, Texas passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016 at the age of 79. Bill was born in Pottsboro, Texas, and passed away in McKinney, Texas of heart failure.Bill was employed by the Dallas Times Herald, starting as a carrier at age 10 and leaving in 1988 as Senior Vice President. He also worked at the Philadelphia Bulletin, Ft Worth Star Telegram and San Antonio Light. He spent his life mentoring and advising young people wherever he went.Bill was predeceased by his parents Murlan and Irene Jones Powell; brother, Murlan Jones Powell; sister, Melva Powell Graham; and great grandson, Bennett Allen Tharp.He issurvived by his wife, Theresa Leverette Powell; sons, Richard Powell and his wife, Lisa,Kerry Powell and his wife, Linda; daughters, Eileen Bordelon and her husband, Jerome, daughter, Joanna Brown and her husband, Pat; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, donations to Holy Family Catholic Church, 919 Spence Road, Van Alstyne, TX 75495 would be appreciated.Visitation will be on Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 2800 Valwood Parkway, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.Interment will be at 2:30 pm at Calvary Hill Memorial Park, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas 75220.Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
