Kay lost her 7 year battle with cancer. She was a Braniff flight attendant for 24 years. After the demise of Braniff, she worked as an executive secretary for several companies, retiring from Aviall Corp. She found retirement boring and volunteered at RHD/Dallas Medical Center for 16 years, even after her cancer diagnosis.Kay was preceded in death by her parents Houston & Edith Powell, brother, Jim Powell, nieces Amber Leake and Angela Wood. She is survived by her beloved identical twin sister Nancy Gay Leake ( Bruce ), nephew Bruce Powell Leake, niece Debi Parham ( Phil ), sister-n-law Sue Powell, eight cousins, her Braniff Clipped B's family and her Childress High School classmates of 65 years, her RHD volunteer group and her best friend from flight school, Amber Laws.Kay willed her body to UT Southwestern to hopefully find a cure for her rare cancer, leiomyosarcoma. Thanks to her UT Southwestern Oncology and Palliative care team, especially Dr. Michael Folgert and Dr. Caitlin Siropaides for extending her quality of life. Laughter and friendships were at the top of her " favorite things " list. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.A memorial service will be held in her honor on Monday June, 7 ,2021 from 1:00PM at North Dallas Funeral Home Dallas, TX 75234.
