Velma Jean Powers, 79, of Watauga, Texas, passed into eternity on Tuesday, October 11, 2011.Graveside Service: 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2011 in Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012.It was thought to be around Christmas time in 1932 or 1933 in a small town know as Flat Rock, Arkansas, just outside LIttle Rock, Arkansas, that Velma Jean Powers was born. The exact month and year is not known. She had two sisters and two brothers as well. Her mother abandoned the children when Velma was about two years old. She spent some time in an orphanage and was adopted at about age five by a lady who was childless named Mary. The orphanage gave her the birthdate of March 24, 1932. She soon moved with Mary to Lewiston, Idaho, where she grew up.Velma left home in her early teens and went to Spokane, Washington, where she met her husband, Richard Powers, at about 18 years old. They were married many years and had four children, Ron, Deborah, and twin boys who were born too premature to survive known only as Baby Powers'. Velma loved the outdoors, the woods and mountains, anything involving nature and baby animals of any kind. Gold and material treasurs were of little value to her as her treasure and center of her life was her family. That's where it started and ended for her. Velma will be greatly and forever missed by all of us left behind. One day we will enjoy God's greatest gift of eternal life and be with her again. Until then we will spend our days mending a broken heart that will never heal. Your little boy has carried you to your final resting place here on earth. The passed away takes over from here.
