Janelle Ann (Maeckel) Rector of San Antonio, TX, passed away on Wednesday March 28, 2018 at the age of 83. Janelle was born August 9, 1934 in Poth, Tx to Leslie and Alyce Maeckel with an older brother, Gene Maeckel. Janelle went to college in Austin, Tx to be a nurse and while there fell in love and married a military man so she was off to see the world. She always wanted to travel and see the world, and she did. On a month long missionary trip to Africa, visiting hospitals, attended a wedding, sometimes camping in tents, she was most impacted by the respect for the elderly. In Africa, if one lived long enough to have gray hair, everyone stopped to let them by, even cars.She loved being a nurse and helping people, serving communion to the shut ins, taking blood pressure, and singing in the choir.Janelle is survived by her three children and four grandchildren, Alice Rector (daughter), Robert (son) and Sharon Rector, Leigh Janelle Rector (granddaughter), Jan (daughter) and Russell Ahlstrom, Alexander Ahlstrom, Cody Ahlstrom and Raleigh Ahlstrom (grandsons), and her brother, Gene Maeckel.The family expresses its heart-felt appreciation to her many friends, especially Janie Gonzales and Sonoma House for all of their love and support during Janelle's life.MEMORIAL SERVICEFRIDAYAPRIL 13, 20183:00 PMGethsemane Lutheran Church610 Avalon StreetSan Antonio, Tx 78213Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
