Obituary

Robert Cleveland “Bob” Upchurch, 77, of Carrollton, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on October 8, 2026. Born on February 1, 1949, Bob grew up in Carrollton and built a life centered on faith, family, and serving others.

Bob served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He became an Addison firefighter in 1973 before joining the Carrollton Fire Department in 1974, where he faithfully served until 1991. After leaving the fire department, he opened Carrolls Heating and Air with a fellow firefighter, continuing to put his skills and strong work ethic to work for others. He took great pride in working hard and providing for his family. Even after retiring from that work a few years ago, he remained everyone’s trusted fix-it man, ready to drop what he was doing, lend a hand, and stay until the job was done.

Above all, Bob was a man of deep faith. He attended First Baptist Church at The Fields in Lewisville, rarely missing a Sunday, and lived his life according to the Word of God. His faith was evident in his humility, generosity, and the care he showed those around him.

A devoted husband to Sharon for nearly 53 years, Bob was also a loving father to Scott and Kim and a proud Pawpaw to his only grandchild, Aubree. He loved keeping up with his family, often calling throughout the day just to stay connected. Those everyday conversations were one of the many ways he made his love felt.

Bob was a jokester and a teaser whose quick wit brought laughter to those around him. He had a way of making people feel at ease, and those who knew him remember how special he made them feel. Humble, hardworking, and a fighter, Bob was someone others could count on.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Ruby Upchurch, and his brother, Jimmy Upchurch. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon Upchurch; his son, Scott Upchurch; his daughter, Kim Upchurch; his granddaughter, Aubree Upchurch; his sister, Linda Carson, and her husband, Darrell Carson; his sister, Pat Short, and her husband, Benny Short; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom he loved dearly.

His family and friends will carry with them the example of his faith, the joy of his humor, and the love he showed through a lifetime of caring for others.

Visitation is planned for Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the North Dallas Funeral Home, with a funeral service planned for Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church at the Fields in Carrollton.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Bob’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Heart Association.
