Obituary

Robert Fletcher Wyly, 87, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, with his family at his side. He was at CC Young Nursing Facility in Dallas.

Bob was born on August 16, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas, to Sydney Wyly and Glenna Revard Wyly. He was married to Elaine Noto from 1956 - 1976 and is survived by his daughter, Terri Wyly, and granddaughters Madelynn and Olivia. In 2001, he married Emily Abel, and they remained together until her passing in 2014.

Bob spent his childhood years in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and then, as a teenager, relocated to Midwest City, Oklahoma…. home of Tinker Air Force Base. He graduated from Midwest City High School (home of the proud Bombers) in 1955. While in high school, Bob played right tackle on the football team that won many championships.

Upon graduation, Bob joined the Army's Paratrooper Unit until his honorable discharge in June 1958. He remained in MWC until he moved his family to Dallas in 1969, where he spent the remainder of his life.

Bob spent the majority of his working years in sales, but always had time for family and friends, He loved sports… especially football and golf. He was an avid golfer who could be found on the golf course either in Oklahoma or Texas on many weekends.

Bob was proud to be a Native American, listed on tribal roles for both Osage and Cherokee Tribes. He stayed in touch with his four sisters who lived in Pawhuska and the surrounding areas and enjoyed attending the Tribal celebrations in Pawhuska. He is survived by sister Marti Bills, husband Bill Bills, their son Casey Bills, and sister Laura Choice. In addition to sisters Marti and Laura, he is preceded in death by sisters Glenna Leigh and Pam Choice.

Bob always treasured his family and friends, the list is too long to mention all, but special love went to Kay Northcutt, Anne and Burton Batey, niece and nephew, Crystal Oivio and daughter Marcella Jaques, both God daughters.

In September 1983, Bob made the courageous decision to join Alcoholics Anonymous and recently celebrated his forty-first year of sobriety. He was a proud member of the Town North AA Group. He embraced all who entered the program and supported them during their journey,

Bob was a devoted member of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Farmers Branch, Texas. After retirement, he worked at the school in the "after-care program," where he developed quite a following of young friends! He was also an avid volunteer in any capacity. If it needed some attention, he was your man!
