Obituary

Robinell Stevenson of Mesquite, Texas passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 84.

On Saturday evening, October 26, 2024, our Sovereign God sent His angels to take His daughter home.

Robinell Stevenson was born on August 14, 1940, in Salem, NJ, one of 14 children to the late Rev. Noah and Sweetie Bell Reaves. She was raised in Brotmanville, NJ, and attended Vineland High School. After high school, she continued her education at Glassboro State College, where she was an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority. Robinell went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Education and Master of Science in English. Robinell served as an elementary education teacher and reading specialist for Pittsgrove Township School District in New Jersey for 35 years and retired in 1998 to devote time to her family.

Her children defined Robinell as the cornerstone of the family. She supported them in all their activities and sports, loved all her children dearly, and pushed each one to become better men and women.

Robinell enjoyed cooking, reading, singing, watching her Hallmark movies, gardening, and spending time with family. She was an active member of both the church and community and used her ministerial gift of teaching to serve as a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher. Robinell was a proud member of the NAACP, NJEA, and elected member of The Board of Education. She volunteered on the Bereavement Committee and the Missionary Ministry at Union Baptist Temple.

Robinell loved the Lord, having been baptized as a child by her father. She could often be found reading her Bible, praying, and watching sermons on TV. She also loved to sing old anthems, spirituals, and hymns. Prior to the onset of dementia, Robinell was a faithful member of Union Baptist Temple, where she enjoyed Pastor Albert Morgan's preachings.

Robinell is preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Noah and Sweetie Bell Reaves; her daughter, Beth Anne; her siblings, Joe W., Lenora, James Albert, Bennilee, Simi Frank, Leon, Bessie, Ida, Finest, Stenic, Bonnie, and Odis.

Robinell leaves to cherish her memory six children: Nelson Reaves Jones, April Stevenson-Kinder, Robert Stevenson (Mandy), Mavis Yarborough (Tony), Jatayah Stevenson, and Latonya Stevenson (Shujaah); two sisters, Ora Reaves and Nora Roberts. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren: Marquis Green, Essence Jones, MaCayla Jones, Francis Kinder, Colton Arends, Elizabeth Stevenson, Lydia Robinell Stevenson, Brianna Yarborough, Braelin Yarborough, Shujaah Bethea Jr., and Shia Bethea. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Mom, we love and miss you, but we know you are in the presence of our Lord.
