Obituary

Roger Sarvis, 46, of Dallas, Texas, passed away March 27, 2022, after an illness.

Roger was born February 10, 1976, in Marion, SC. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, and his parents, Donnie Leo Sarvis, Jr. and Janette Dawn Sarvis (West), and a brother, Donnie Leo Sarvis III.

He was named after quarterback Roger Staubach, but he did not have a middle name because his parents could not agree on one. His father wanted his middle name to be Pearson, but his mother felt that this was taking his love of the Dallas Cowboys too far. Roger sometimes complained about his name, but he also admitted that it was unique.

He graduated from South Florence High School in 1994, where he participated in performing arts and provided illustrations for school publications.

Rog, as he was known to his family and friends, was a talented singer, songwriter, musician, and gifted artist. He loved to perform, and he was especially fond of making people laugh. He posted music and comedy on his YouTube channel. He also enjoyed reading, gaming, and watching movies and various series. He dreamed of camping with his family, but had yet to make that dream a reality. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Dallas.

Over the years, he worked in a bowling alley, as a radio DJ, as a cake decorator in a grocery store bakery, in a comic book store, and more recently, at Dees Doggie Den, a daycare for dogs. However, after his daughter was born in 2020, he became the stay-at-home Papa, caring for his little girl.

He is survived by his partner in life and love, Dorothy Fischer, and daughter, Freja Belle, of Dallas, Texas. Other survivors include a brother, David McLaughlin of Florence, SC; a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Michael Banks of Villa Rica, GA; and a sister and brother-in-law, Casandra and Warren Kersey of Latta, SC. A number of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a donation to a GoFundMe to help Dorothy pay for childcare and other expenses that may arise.

A celebration of life event will be held Tuesday, April 5, at 7:00 PM (CDT) at Zion Lutheran Church located at 6121 E Lovers Ln, Dallas, TX 75214.
