Obituary

Reflections of My Beloved Brother from Victorya Rogers.Alton Rogers was born March 24, 1956 to Will Newsome and Minnie Rogers in Mexia, Texas where he attained his academic education and graduated from Mexia High School. Alton was a born leader. He believed life gave you whatever you asked for, he taught you should be careful what you asked for! His faith started from within, and expressed itself outwardly to whoever needed his assistance. He loved to give, which was one of his greatest joys. He loved the outdoors and was quite a fisherman. Music came from within him as he played the piano, he even wrote a song! He was a man of integrity and a professional employed by the DISD until his retirement. He knew many people and was known and loved by many. Alton, was and is my best friend. I love my brother and will miss our planning sessions we used to have. He taught me many values of life. One I remember and live by currently - always live by your own rules, call your own shots, after all it's your life-then go for it! He encouraged me at my wise young age of 10 to pursue a business and legal career. Because of Alton, I always knew what I wanted to do with my life, and who I am as a person. I was always reminding him "Alton, I'm the oldest" - what a statement! He leaves to cherish his memory; a nephew, Jonathan Rogers, one sister, Victorya Rogers; and a host of relatives and friends. A Time of Visitation and Reflection will be Wednesday, December 7, 2011 5:00-8:00pm at North Dallas Funeral Home.
