Obituary

Evelyn Evie Rubeck of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Wayne, Nebraska, went home to be with her passed away on December 31, 2019 at the age of 83. She died of natural causes while resting peacefully in her apartment.Mrs. Rubeck was born on June 18, 1936 in Wayne, Nebraska to Everett and Gladys (Barnett) Roberts. Evelyn married Jack Rubeck of Wayne, Nebraska and they farmed together west of Wayne for more than 30 years. In addition, Evelyn started a catering business and provided wedding cakes for hundreds of couples in Nebraska and then later in Dallas. In the mid 1980s they moved to Dallas, Texas where she continued her catering business, along with managing the cafeteria of Dallas Christian College for more than 10 years.Evelyn is survived by her three sons; Blane (Pat) Rubeck, Barry (Jamie) Rubeck, and Dusty (Kathy) Rubeck, all of the greater Dallas area. She is the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Tom Roberts of Phoenix, Arizona.Evelyn was preceded in death by Jack Rubeck (her husband of 58 years), her parents, her sister Billie of Winside, Nebraska, her sister Marion Jo of Phoenix, Arizona, and a still-born brother Richard in Wayne, Nebraska.Evelyn Rubeck was a devoted wife and mother whose hospitality and meals blessed the lives of thousands. She and Jack were founding members of Cornerstone Christian Church where she served faithfully for many years as the secretary of the Missions Committee. For more than 15 years she coordinated the Angel Tree project at Valley View Christian Church and later, Cornerstone Christian Church. She and Jack helped provide and deliver Christmas presents to thousands of children in Dallas.Final arrangements will be held at North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Dallas, Texas. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Her memorial service will be held on Friday, January 3rd at 3:00 p.m.Evelyn loved red roses, but would have encouraged any donations to be sent to Cornerstone Christian Church (for the building fund), 2727 Lyndon B Johnson Freeway #216 Farmers Branch, Texas 75234 or to Central India Christian Mission (the mission organization of Ajai & Indu Lall), 1350-C West Southport Rd #323, Indianapolis IN 46217.
