Obituary of Rubye Jeanne Drumwright Pulley Rubye Jeanne Drumwright Pulley was born on February 10, 1929, in Dallas, Tx. She was the daughter of Huber L. Drumwright, Sr. andRubye E. Lokey Drumwright. Rubye was very prooud to be a third generation Dallasite and fourth generation Texan. After attending McMain High School for Girls in New Orleans, Louisiana, she graduated from North Dallas High School in 1946. Rubye graduated from Baylor in 1950 with a double major in Education and English having had an association with Dr. A. J. Armstrong as Secretary of Sigma Tau Delta, National Honorary English Fraternity. While at Baylor, Rubye enjoyed her friends and membership in Pi Beta Phi sorority, formerly Alpha Omega, serving as President. During her years at Baylor, she met her future husband, Ralph W. Pulley, Jr., a law student and co-captain of the winning Baylor basketball teams of 1946, 1948, and 1949. Ralph and Rubye married at First Baptist Church of Dallas in August of 1950 in a ceremony officiated by her brother, Dr. Huber L. Drumwright, Jr. She taught fifth grade at Armstrong Elementary School until her first child was born. Ralph and Rubye centered their family life around their beloved First Baptist Church of Dallas, serving in various Sunday School departments. Rubye was baptized by Dr. George Truett in 1939 at age 10. Rubye was honored to serve on the PTA boards of her childrens schools as well as being room mother for many years. She also enjoyed membership in The Dallas Womans Club, the Marianne Scruggs Garden Club, and served as President of the Dallas Lawyers Wives Club, the Dallas Browning Club, and the Junior 3 Arts Study Club. Her greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. Rubye was predeceased by her parents, brother, dear husband of 66 years, Ralph, and beloved son, Ralph William. She is survived by her daughter, Claudia (Charles), son, Tom (Stephanie), grandsons, Thomas and William, sister-in-law, Minette Drumwright Pratt (Bill), nieces Meme Perry (H.W.) and Debbie Underwood (Max), great-nephew, Brad (Laura), and great nieces, Emily Pfizer (Blake) and Lauren Perry.
