Donald Gene Rush was born November 28, 1949 in Bloomington, Illinois and died on December 31, 2011. He is preceded in death by his father, Gene Rush. Don is survived by his wife, Debby Rush; mother, Melba Rush Davidson and husband, Joe; sister, Bonnie Voth and husband, Ernie; Son, Lonnie Rush and wife, Karen; Daughter, Lisa Elmer and husband Erich; Son, Jarrod Rush and wife, Ame; grandchildren, Adam and Alex Elmer and Jocelyn, Sierra, and Bryson Rush; a large extended family including beloved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and many dear friends.A life so full but way to short for those of us he left behind.Don loved many things:Baseball with the Rangers and Rough Riders A pretty day on the lake in his boatHis catfish pondA fire in the fireplaceCruisingChristmasPutting together a partyHamburgers, Fried Chicken and deviled eggsFront row beachOpening Day with his friendsCreating the lake placeGrilling in the backyardCanton Trade DaysCollecting StuffHis Career at State FarmHis DogsMost of all he loved his family and friends. He was so proud of and cherished his three children Lonnie, Lisa and Jarrod. He also treasured the other three children, Erich, Karen and Ame he acquired as they joined the family as spouses. Most of all he loved his grandchildren Adam Elmer, Alex Elmer, Jocelyn Rush, Sierra Rush and Bryson Rush. Don loved to have his mother Melba Rush Davidson living behind us, where he could have frequent conversations over the back gate.Don was a man of few words but loved nothing more than gathering everyone up for an event, a crawfish boil with friends, a family trip to Hawaii to meet a new nephew, a chili cook off, a Christmas Party, a pool party or hamburgers in the back yard watching football. He loved nothing more than planning the perfect event with food, drink and entertainment for family and friends. Don treasured every holiday and loved nothing more than tradition and family-Thanksgiving at his sister
