Doris Medcraft Rutgers died Nov.23, 2011 in the presence of her loving family. She was born Dec. 18, 1918 to William and CharlotteSchreinert Medcraft. After attending Hood College, she had a successful career in retail while she raised her daughter by her first marriage, Gail. In 1963, she married Ernest E. Rutgers who predeceased her in 1984. They enjoyed their expanded family. Dorie lived most of her life in New Jersey before joining her daughter and family in Texas.She was an active member of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church and PEO. She loved animals, swimming, gardening, bridge, golf, bowling, and reading. She leaves a legacyof love and adventure. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Pace (Jonathan), granddaughter, Margaret Pace (Caroline), grandson, William Pace (Wendy), great-grandson, Liam Pace. She is also survived by stepsons James Rutgers (Carol) and David Rutgers; grandchildren Christopher Rutgers (Nicole), Geoffrey Rutgers (Erin), Daphne Wagner, Elizabeth Strong, Claire Rutgers. A memorial service will be Mon., Nov. 28, 2:00pm PrestonHollow Presbyterian Church, 9800Preston Rd., Dallas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made toPHPC, Dallas SPCA, or EquestTherapeutic Horsemanship.
