Ruth Newman Brooks born July 28, 1924 and passed away June 26, 2024. She was born in Lubbock Texas, lived in Edinburg Texas and moved to Dallas as a young child. Mimi loved her grandchildren very much, helping to raise them with their grandfather Pop Pop. And later being a loving caregiver for her daughter during her illness. Her wonderful life also included her love for antiques and with her good friend Jeanne Jackson opened The Samplers Antiques Store in Snyder Plaza. They ran this store for over 25 years then moved to the Lovers Lane Antique Mall and Forestwood Antique Mall. Her and Jeanne with their husbands often traveled to other states to purchase antiques for their store, including trips to England. Years later, she very much enjoyed her life at The Bentley, making many wonderful friends there. In the last few years she loved and appreciated her caregivers there also. She loved her church home for many years especially her Sunday School class. She is survived by her son Ron Brooks and wife Kim Little-Brooks. Grandchildren Brooke Murphy and husband Camp, Cameron Kuehne, Taylor Mundt and husband Cory. Greatgrandchildren Remi Murphy and Knox Kuehne. She was preceded in death by her parents Ruth Newman and Louis Newman, husband Doyle T. Brooks Jr., daughter Becky Brooks, sister Nancy Paine and husband John Paine.
A Memorial Service will be held at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church on July 26 at 12 noon with a reception to follow. The church is located at 9200 Inwood Rd., Dallas Texas 75220. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Lovers Lane United Methodist Church and the American Cancer Society.
