Obituary

Ruth left this world to meet her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 4, 2024 after battling a long illness.

Born on October 13, 1942 to Virgil C. Reed and Betty Alice Eisenbrook Reed in Houston, TX.

Ruth attended San Marcos Baptist Academy from 1955-1961. She went on to be a flight attendant for International Texas Airlines, based in Dallas. Ruth also worked at Braniff Education Systems and then spent over 20 years as an Administrative Assistant for the Dallas-Denton District of the United Methodist Church of the North Texas Conference.

Married to Bobby Ray Peikert for over 31 happy years. Together they owned and operated Mims Steel Company in Dallas, TX.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Donna Reed McGlamery Ehrig, and her parents, Virgil and Betty Reed. In remembrance of her sister, Ruth wrote a self-published book titled "Heavenly Mistakes".

She is survived by her loving husband, Bobby Peikert; Niece, Meredith McGlamery; Nephew, Jordan Ehrig; numerous grand-nieces/nephews from the Ehrig Family; Cousins, Linda Lundgren and Thomas Reed; Aunt, Barbara Ledbetter; Stepson and his wife, Lance and Angela Peikert; Stepdaughters Pat Andris and Shannon Bolin; Step-Grandchildren Nathan Peikert, Rachel Peikert, Emily Peikert and Jana Rhule. Ruth will lovingly be remembered as Granny Rue and Aunt Ruthie.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 2-4 pm at Walnut Hill Church a Ministry of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, 10066 Marsh Ln., Dallas, TX 75229.
