Hermine Morgenstern Sallinger, born June 2, 1916, in New York, New York and raised in Borger, Texas, died August 30, 2015.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Alfred Sallinger and daughter Joyce Sallinger.She is survived by her children: Don and Phyllis Sallinger, Carolyn Helfman, and Mary Beth Harrison; grandchildren: Mark Sallinger and David Tolan, Theresa and Jerry Taylor, Traci and Terry Davis, Daniel and Stephanie Helfman, Kory Helfman and Dana Sherrell, Glenn aand Stefani Harrison, Chris Harrison, and Gwen Harrison; fourteen great-grandchildren: Mitchell and Lee Davis, Jack and Max Taylor, Ethan and Aiden Helfman, Hank and Sam Harrison, Josh and Taylor Harrison, Ben and Olivia Helfman, and Cameron and Amber Sherrell.She attended University of Texas and SMU. Hermine met her husband in Dallas. She was active in Boy Scouts of America, Head Start, B'nai B'rith Women, and Temple Emanu-El. Besides her family, which was her first love, art permeated her life and brought her joy. As a member of Southwest Watercolor Society, she earned SWS designation, a definite highlight of her life. Gardening and cooking were also passions. The cookie jar was always filled, and flowers were always blooming.Services will be held at 10:00am in Temple Emanu-El sanctuary, located at Hillcrest and Northwest Highway.Interment at Temple Emanu-El Cemetery will follow the service.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Emanu-El, North Dallas Food Bank, or the Carmelite Nuns at 600 Flora, Dallas, Texas 75211.Please send the family condolences and share memories on this website.
