Obituary

Sally Golman, age 68, was a gentle soul who passed away in Denton, TX on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. She was born in Dallas, TX on May 23, 1956 to George and Ruth Hohenberg Golman.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Steven Allyn Golman. Survivors include her sister, Sydney Golman Burton, niece and nephews Carlyn Burton, Jeremy Burton, Eric Golman, and Scott Golman, and sister-in-law Sandra Golman.

Sally thrived at DENTON STATE SUPPORTED LIVING CENTER (DSSLC, formerly known as the Denton State School) for 50 years, since she was 18. She loved to participate in Special Olympics, Sheltered Workshops, and "Grandparents" programs, and especially enjoyed music and dances.

Heartfelt thanks are extended to all of the caring staff at DSSLC. Their attention to Sally has been amazing throughout the 5 decades of her residency there - they were truly a blessing to Sally and her family. Special appreciation is given to Sally's cousin, John Rosenberg, who has been a tireless advocate for Sally and many others with intellectual disabilities.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Volunteer Services Council at DSSLC, either on-line at VSCdenton.org/donate or by mail to PO Box 368 Denton TX 76202.
