Sammie Jean Freeman

September 30, 1936 - February 27, 2026

Sammie Jean Freeman of Farmers Branch, Texas, formerly of Weatherford, Texas passed from this earth into the arms of our heavenly Father on Friday, February 27, 2026. She was born on September 30, 1936, in Dubach, Louisiana to Louis Stafford Barnett and Marjorie Jarmon Barnett. On December 17, 1955, she married James Edgar Freeman. On December 17, 2020, they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. James went home to our Lord on January 16, 2021. Sammie was a devoted wife and mother sharing her life with James in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Tucson, Arizona, Memphis, Tennessee, Fort Worth, Texas and Weatherford, Texas. She lived a full and vibrant life, full of determination and clarity for the life she wanted for James and their children. Sammie loved her family, her church and the ranch she shared with James until his passing. Sammie was the past president of the Western Hills Garden Club in Fort Worth where her garden and yard was Yard of the Month on several occasions. Sammie was also a member of the Rejebian Book Club at Ridglea Country Club in Fort Worth. She obtained a Master Gardner Certification from the Fort Worth Botanic Garden. She lived in Farmers Branch with her eldest son Ralph, his wife Debbie and great grandson Jaymison, until her passing. She is survived by her children Ralph Freeman, Rex Freeman, Randy Freeman and Missy Fralia and her husband Rusty. She was the proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Pat Shaw, Lois Pixley and Dinah Brazzel. She was preceded by her parents Louis and Majorie Barnett, her brothers Louis and Richard Barnett, sisters Martha Boyd, Ann Miller, and son Rodney Freeman.

Interment will be at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, 6476 LA-151, Dubach, LA 71235, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11 AM.
