Mildred Jones Sandel, 83, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, in Dallas.Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Forest Meadow Baptist Church, 9150 Church Road, Dallas.Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Forest Meadow Baptist Church, where she was an active member.Mildred was born July 24, 1926, on a farm near Munday. As a young woman, she worked for the newly formed FBI in Washington, D.C., before following her dreams of being an actress to New York City, where she graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.On a visit back to Texas, Mildred met and later married Samuel Nathan Sandel Jr. and traded Times Square for the West Texas town of Iraan. Later she taught school for two decades at Grapevine High School.She was preceded in death by her husband, S.N. Sandel Jr.; her parents, Raymond and Mabel Jones; and three sisters.Survivors: Her children, Mary Martin, Mike and Mark Sandel, and their spouses, Kyle, Becky and Dawn; and grandchildren, Tate, Hayden, Hannah, Nathan, Jillian and Blake, who were her greatest joy.
