Stephen (Steve) S. Sanders passed away at his home on March 29, 2013 in McKinney, Texas. He was born March 17, 1934 to loving parents, Millard and Gladys Sanders in Clifton Hill, Missouri. He graduated from Independence High School in Kansas in 1952; soon after he joined the United States Marine Corps where he served 3 years at Camp Pendleton, California and in Camp Fuji, Japan. After leaving the service, he attended college at Independence Junior college where he played football for the 1957 season. Before retiring, Steve enjoyed a career as a home builder and business owner of Sandott Lumber and other small businesses in Independence, Kansas. Later, he moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and then to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and finally to McKinney, Texas. At some point, throughout his life, he enjoyed drawing, water skiing, hunting, reading, watching cooking shows and other TV programs, but most of all he enjoyed playing tennis.He is survived by two children, Kathy Smith of Celina, Texas and Matthew Sanders of Louisville, Colorado; 2 grandchildren, Ally and Nathan Smith; siblings, Dorothy Terhune and her husband, Ralph, Patricia Statham of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Jim Sanders of Dearing, Kansas.
