Ruth Helen Spreen Schmalz went to be with the passed away following an extended illness on March 6, 2011. Born August 12, 1923 inCincinnati, Ohio to Ernest A.Spreen and Helen A. Buck.Ruth married her childhood sweetheart, Earl A. Schmalz, on July 14, 1945. They enjoyed a wonderful life together for 65 1/2 years.Ruth was a former member of the Texas Needlework and Textile Guild.She was preceded in death by her brother, William E. Spreen.She is survived by her daughters Barbara Ann, (husband Ron Smelser) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Nancy Ruth (husbandTom Dunham) of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, 5 grand childrenand 2 great grand children.A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Blvd, Dallas, TX 75205.PLEASE, in lieu of flowers send memorials to Highland Park Presbyterian Church or a charityof your choice.
