Schmitz, Leonard William Born October 6, 1912 in Lindsay, Texas. Died August 16, 2010 in Dallas, Texas. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents John & Mary Bezner Schmitz; sisters Gertrude Horn & Celestine Theimer, & brother John Henry Schmitz. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Jennie Lathem Schmitz, children Ann Young (Roy), Mary Lehman (Bill), Robert Schmitz (Shawn) & James Schmitz, grandchildren Eileen, Roy III, Angela, Tom, Guy, Alex, Maegan, Lauren, Adam, Eric, Jennie, & Rachel; 16 great grandchildren, brothers Freddy Schmitz & LeeRoy Schmitz, sisters Rosalie Cox & Marcella Wilde & many nieces & nephews. Leonard served in the 5th Armored Division in Europe at the Battle of the Bulge during WWII. After his Honorable Discharge he co-founded Club Schmitz in 1946 which is still owned & operated by the family today. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity. Visitation Tues., Aug. 17th 6:00-8:00pm with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00pm in the Chapel of North Dallas Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial Wed., Aug. 18th at 10:00am at St. Monica's Catholic Church, Midway & Walnut Hill Ln., Dallas with Interment following at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
