Shelia Maurine
Schlosberg
July 23, 1951 – March 31, 2024
Shelia Maurine (Little) Schlosberg, after a courageous and heroic battle, finally succumbed to her medical issues and passed away on March 31st, 2024. Her husband, Paul Schlosberg, was by her side caring for her every need and seeking out treatment paths and rehabilitation possibilities throughout her medical struggle. During their emotional and devastating journey, their group of amazing friends provided endless support and love for them that cannot be adequately described.
Shelia graduated with a Master's Degree from The University of Texas at Austin before starting her successful sales career in advanced nuclear technology products with Westinghouse. Later, Shelia then chose to join IBM, stationed in Pittsburgh. Because of her personal charisma, intelligence, tenacity and business knowledge over her 25-year career there, she received numerous accolades and awards for her achievements.
Upon deciding to retire from IBM, she chose to partner with her sister, Dr. Sandi Chapman, to establish The Center for Brain Health - addressing Alzheimer and Brain Related maladies. Shelia was instrumental in devising the business plan and raising the initial funding for this revolutionary scientific research endeavor to notably expand the understanding of critical components and contributions to maintaining a healthy brain throughout a lifetime. Since the founding, her sister Sandi has led The Center and its research through a markedly expanded platform to study and invent mechanisms to combat traumatic brain injuries, PTSD and decline of brain function by and through disease and injury.
Whatever she did, Shelia did it with passion and perseverance. She loved to travel, especially internationally, with her husband and friends. She was the consummate planner and bargain hunter. Her backyard is an oasis in a park-like setting with seasonal plantings, landscape resplendent with a waterfall and fire pit and her artistic flare in her home's décor. Entertainment was one of Shelia's specialties. Her dining table was always glamorous and appropriate to the season or occasion. Both her friends and her sister Sue treasure some of Shelia's individually crafted oil artworks. No description of Shelia would be complete without mentioning her warmth and generosity. She was always finding some special gift to delight her friends and family. Shelia's most prized possessions were her husband, her dogs, numerous and long-term friends and her sisters.
Shelia is proceeded in death by her parents Maurine and Paul Little and her beloved brother Terry Little. Surviving her are her husband Paul Schlosberg and sisters Sue McCart (Mac) and Dr. Sandi Chapman (Don). Other loved ones include her sister-in-laws Andrea Winans (Daniel) and Elaine Little and nieces and nephews Stephanie, Melissa, Noah, Sherry, Ken and grand nephews Miles and Grayson as well as much loved cousins Karen, Kit, Kathy, Beth and Patti. A celebration of her life is planned for May 18, 2024.
