Obituary

My sweet love, David Charles Skipworth, met his Maker on January 29, 2014, at the age of 67, after a lengthy illness. He passed peacefully in his home.David was born in Greenville, Texas on January 13, 1947. After moving to Dallas, he attended Brian Adams High School in Dallas. With a heart for service, he joined the Marine Corps in 1967, and served several tours in Viet Nam, of which he was very proud. He was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal and Campaign Medal with device. He attended Texas Aero Tech and Richland College. He worked for Ryder System Airline Service Division, and Horseshoe Casinos in Las Vegas and Shreveport. He became disabled in 1998.A quick wit, he loved to joke, he loved fishing, coin and stamp collecting and scuba diving. He was a member of American Legion and the NRA.He is survived by his wife Sandra Skipworth, brother Jack Skipworth (Ida), sister Joy Dickey (Dan), daughter Shawn Echols (Eric), daughter Stephanie Wells (Eddie Crain), son David Skipworth, Jr. of Las Vegas, daughter Melissa Skipworth of Las Vegas, grandchildren Jessica Nix, Whitney Hensley, Britney Murphy (Rocky), Tyler Echols, great grand children Makenzie Lyon, Rocky Murphy III, nieces Courtney Potter, Luciana Morgan, Jeanette Kenney, grand niece Jessica, Kendra and Joshua Taylor, Shayla and Philip Morgan and many beloved family members in Brasil.The Celebration of life will be at Casa View Baptist Church, 130 East I-30, Garland, Texas 75043, Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Ice Cream social following. Memorials are may be made to Disabled American Veterans and Wounded Warrior Project.Please send the family condolencs.
