Kathalene (Foley) Smith passed away peacefully at her daughters home on November 7th after a long illness.Kathalene was born December 24, 1935, the youngest of four children to Bernard Opie Foley and Opal King Foley in Beckley, West Virginia.Kathalene graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School with the Class of 1953, where she was a proud member of the Flying Eagles Marching Band. On July 16th, 1954 she was united in marriage to James Robert Smith. During his career in the United States Air Force, she set up many households. Always making sure her family was comfortable and happy for however long the assignment. Some of her many interests were bowling, reading, gardening and watching Jeopardy. She also loved her cats, (Samantha, Taj, Taco, and Thomas).After living in Myrtle Beach, S.C. for 32 years, Kathalene and her husband, James moved to Avinjer, Texas to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter.Kathalene is survived by her husband of 59 years, James R. Smith; children Robin (Jeff) Isham of Carrollton, Texas and David (Pam) Smith of Penny, Georgia.Also left to mourn her is her Granddaughter, Lindsay (Chris) Teague and great-grandchildren, Miles and Harper. She is also survived by brother, Donald Foley of Lebannon,Tennessee., and numerous Nieces and Nephews.You fought hard to stay with us, but now you can rest. We will miss you more than words can say.Graveside services will be held Thursday, November 14th, 2013 at the Sunset Memorial Park in her beloved mountains of Beckley, West Virginia.
