Paul Jackson Smith, Jr of Coppell, Texas passed into the arms of his Heavenly Father surrounded by his family on January 19th, 2015. Paul lost his courageous battle with cancer at the age of 78.Affectionately known as Smitty to friends and family alike, Paul was born in Mt. Hope, West Virginia on September 7th, 1936 to Paul and Myrtle Smith. While still a young man, Paul proudly enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as a radio operator from 1955 to 1959. Pauls time in the Navy included serving on various ships as well as the submarine the USS Orion and Paul always remembered his time in the Navy with great fondness.In 1955 while stationed in Washington, D.C. Paul met a beautiful young lady, Stella Mae Vincent of Hot Springs, Arkansas and they were married on January 21st, 1956 in Wheaton, Maryland. Paul and Stella lived in various cities across the U.S. before making their home in Coppell, Texas in December, 1992.Paul and Stella raised 3 children together, Paula, born in San Diego, California and later twin daughters Shannan and Shawn born in Hot Springs, Arkansas.Shortly after moving to Coppell, Paul went to work for Robertson Pools where he was able to showcase his skills as a gifted pool and spa designer. For many years Paul was highly sought after and his long list of clients included many members of the Dallas Cowboys as well as the Dallas Stars. Many of the best and most impressive pools and spas in Coppell and the surrounding cities are the direct result of Pauls talents and the hard work and dedication of the builders at Robertson Pools.Paul will also be remembered for his love of singing and playing blue grass music. He was a self-taught guitarist and spent much of his time and energy entertaining friends and family with his music.Paul was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Myrtle Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Stella, his daughters Paula Davis, Shannan Smith and Shawn Hart and brother and sister in law Richard and Clarita. Pauls extended family includes his grandchildren Sarah Stocker and Jeremy Davis, Kelsey and Amber Hart, Kelly, Jack and Abby Smith as well as great grandson Collin Davis.Brother Paul Smith was a Master Mason, having been a member of several lodges in Arizona and Texas.A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 15th, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the North Dallas Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas. His ashes will be interred at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas on February 16th in a private ceremony.
