Shaun Lee Smith of Dallas, Texas, passed away January 5, 2013. He was 50 years old. Shaun was born on October 25, 1962 in Austin, Texas, to Scherry Kaye Purkins Smith and Joe Lee Smith. Shaun grew up in Dallas and attended David G. Burnet Elementary, Northwood Hills Junior High and Richardson High School. He also attended Brookhaven College.Shaun enjoyed being around people and worked in sales most of his life. He began working as a paper boy for the Dallas Times Herald when he was twelve years old and won several trips for outstanding revenue sales, one being to Disney World. Shaun also won numerous awards for salesman of the month and year, and including a President's Award from Nationwide Recovery Systems where he worked for more than five years. He was an excellent artist, baseball player, cook, wood craftsman and poet. Shaun had always wanted to be an architect, as well. He loved food, music, sports, his family, and the Dallas Cowboys.Shaun is survived by his father, Joe Lee Smith and his wife, Judi Smith, sister, Summar Smith, niece, Sheridan Murrow, nephew, Jared Zak, aunts and uncles, Jacque and Richard Barrineau, DeLois Kelldorf, and Jane and Lawrance Ray Smith, paternal grandmother, Evelyn Smith, and many cousins.He will be greatly missed by many friends.Memorial service to be held Sat., Jan. 12, 2013 at 3:30 pm in the North Dallas Funeral Home Brooks Family Chapel.
