Sophie Jean (Mueller) Lacy
April 5, 1930 – May 26, 2026
Sophie Jean (Mueller) Lacy, 96, of Dallas, Texas, passed peacefully into the presence of her
Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 26, 2026, at 7:30 a.m.
She was born on April 5, 1930, in Gatesville, Texas. At the age of seventeen, Sophie moved
to Dallas, where she began her career as a secretary. It was there that she met the love of her
life, James Eugene Lacy. They were united in marriage on October 14, 1949, beginning a
lifelong partnership marked by devotion, steadiness, and deep affection.
Sophie and James were faithful members of Scofield Memorial Church in Dallas, where they
worshiped and served for 66 years, until his passing on August 8, 2015.
A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Sophie created a home filled with warmth, grace,
and hospitality. She lovingly raised their three daughters: Sharon Denise Rasmussen (Jay
Rasmussen), Debra Ann Blank (John Arthur Blank), and Deidre Jean Flinn (Curtis Flinn). Her
home was a gathering place for family, especially on Sundays, when she welcomed everyone
with a meal and her well-loved clover rise-up rolls, creating cherished memories of fellowship
and joy.
Sophie loved her family deeply and treasured time spent together, including vacations and
special gatherings. Above all, she loved the Lord. Her faith in Jesus Christ was steady and
sincere, and she walked closely with Him throughout her life. Her quiet trust and consistent
testimony left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands; her grandchildren, John Arthur
Blank, Jr., Lacy Denise Sanvictores (Giorgio Sanvictores), and Julie Lynn Blank Demster
(David Demster); and many extended family members and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Eugene Lacy.
Sophie will be remembered for her kindness, devotion, gentle humor, and her ability to make
others feel welcomed and loved. Her legacy lives on through her family and all who were
blessed by her life.
A private family service will be held. She will be cremated.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Pensacola
Christian College Church, a ministry close to her heart.
