Obituary of Stanley Doren Smith Stanley Doren Smith, of Duncanville, Texas passed away on March 30, 2023, at Vitas Hospice in Dallas, Texas at the age of 79. He fought a long courageous battle with Parkinsons Disease. Stanley was born in Clifton, Texas on February 24, 1944. Stanley was proud of being a direct descendant of John J. Smith, the founder of Smith Bend located on the Brazos River. He attended schools in Whitney, Texas graduating as Salutatorian in 1962. In June 1967 he graduated from Baylor University with a BBA in Accounting. That same month he married Mary Yvonne Gilmore in Whitney. They moved to Dallas where he worked for the accounting firm, Peat Marwick Main. In November 1967 Stanley entered the US Army, spending all his time in the Adjutant Generals Office at Ft. Lewis, Washington. After returning to Dallas, in 1969, he continued working for Peat Marwick Main until he joined Southern Union Gas Company where he became Vice President and Controller. Stanley had three passions in life, real trains, Western Swing Music, and his cats. He volunteered for the Age of Steam Museum located in Fair Park, helping turn the museum from a hobby club into the Museum of the American Railroad located in Frisco, TX. He attended Western Swing Events all over Texas and Oklahoma for as long as he was able. Stanley was proceeded in death by his parents Leon (Chili) Smith and Edna Rains Smith. His grandparents were W.J. Smith, and Stella Essary Smith; Rufe Rains, and Lucy Rains. His grandson Blake Famili. Stanley is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Yvonne. His son Chad Smith and wife Christi of Coppell, TX. His daughter Cindy Famili and her husband Hooman of San Diego, CA. His sister Lynn Walsleben and her husband Gary of Flower Mound, TX. A sister-in-law Pam McDuff and her husband John Lytle of Rockwall, TX. Two grandchildren Austin Smith and Addie Smith of Coppell. Three nieces Misty Owen, Kelly Maldonado, and Micah Walsleben. Cousins are too numerous to list. His dog Ollie and cat Missy. Memorials may be given to the SPCA or a charity of your choice. No service is planned.
