Evelyn B. Stewart, 75, died March 7, 2013, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Plano, TX.A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane in Dallas, TX, with the Rev. Clark Wheeler officiating.Mrs. Stewart was born May 3, 1937 in Hammond, LA, to Herman Carl and Iris Webb Berger. She was educated in Hammond and it was while attending Southeastern Louisiana College that she met the love of her life, the tall, lanky basketball player from Kentucky, Charles Russell Stewart, Jr. They were married in Hammond on June 6, 1959, and began their wedded life in Baton Rouge, where he began his career with Liggett & Myers Tobacco Co., and she began her career as a homemaker and mother of four children. In 1971 his company relocated the family to Shreveport, where they lived the remainder of their 39 years of marriage.Once her children were all of school age, Mrs. Stewart became employed as an aide in special education for children with profound learning disabilities, an interest shared with her husband. She loved sewing, reading and shopping. Together they shared a passion for gardening and collecting various items.
