Obituary

Sue Lynn Montgomery Jenkins Peterson, was born on June 17, 1952, in Ringgold, LA to WC and Dorothy Montgomery. On July 5, 2024, Mom/Granny joined her parents, 2 sisters, and husband Bobby "Pete" Peterson in heaven after a grueling battle with Alzheimer's.

She is survived by her children: sons Bart Jenkins and Darren Peterson, partner Kristi Hawkins, daughter Holly Overholser, and husband Brian. Grandchildren: Brandy Hall (Paul), Debra Mathews (George), Joshua Rodriguez (Travis), Randy Nelson (Claire), Lora Wilkinson (Ryan), Hollie Jolley (Andy), Britani Dunning (Cody), Jessica Peterson, Ashlee Overholser (Brett) and Kaylea Overholser. She also had 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister Judy Dolese (Claude) and special cousin Bonnie Jean, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who felt like family.

Sue spent her years spreading the love of Jesus through her work and her voice. Caring for others was what she did best, and her career in nursing gave her that opportunity. She loved to sing and had since she was a child. She spent many years singing and playing piano for others. She was an amazing mother, granny, daughter, sister, and friend. She spent years caring for her husband with Alzheimer's and then spent the last few years riddled with the disease herself. Even to the end, she thought she was nursing and caring for others because that's who she is and always will be. The family would like to thank her caregivers at Silver Leaf Assisted Living & Memory Care and Tribute Hospice Care for their love and care.

A visitation in Texas at North Dallas Funeral Home on Sunday, July 7, 2024, from 5 pm to 8 pm. A second visitation will be held at Rockett Funeral Home in Ringgold, Louisiana, on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 5 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services, officiated by Waymon Beshea, will be Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at 10 am at Rockett Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Bistineau Baptist in Heflin, LA. Pallbearers Jean Claude Dolese, Kevin Jenkins, Bobby Kirkland, Jeremy Pierce, Brandon Pierce, and Logan Pierce.

The family asks that all flowers be directed to Rockett Funeral Home. Mom left a legacy of love that we pray everyone continues to spread now that she's gone. If she wanted anyone to know one thing because of her, it would be to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
