Luterman, Susan Candy, born, September 11, 1943, died September 13, 2026 at the age of 83. Her father was Yale Candy, mother was Florence Esther Samuelsohn.
Although Small in stature, Susan lived a big life. She attended Highland Park schools graduating in 1961. She believed firmly in the school motto, “enter to learn, go forth to serve“. She loved music, reading books, vintage movies, jewelry, poodles, all animals, and above all community service. She worked for many years in the wholesale jewelry business, many years for others, and for a few years for her own company, SCL Creations. She was a BBYO advisor for two BBG chapters and one AZA chapter. Susan co-chaired her HPHS Class of 1961 reunions for over 40 years. She was responsible for establishing scholarships at Highland Park for her class and for herself and her brother personally. She followed her father‘s footsteps, becoming involved on the board of the Dallas Hebrew free loan Association, becoming the first female president of the organization in its history. Following that she became involved in the international Association of Jewish free loans, becoming president of that organization. She was involved with the ladies auxiliary of the Jewish war veterans of the USA, and becoming president for two terms. If you were a friend of Susan‘s, you were a friend for life.
