Obituary of Sybil Glee Crownover Russell It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sybil Russell, 84, in Carrolton, Texas, Friday evening, Sept. 1st. Sybil will be long remembered as a wonderful homemaker, wife, mom, grandmother, and friend. One of the strongest, smart, and talented women around, Sybil was a very strong- willed and opinionated lady who knew how to make everything just right. She was an amazing cook who loved to entertain her friends and neighbors. She loved to travel. She and Phil travelled thousands of miles in their RVs with the AZ Traditions RV club and the Santa Fe Trail Club. Over the years, Sybil showed her talents in sewing, painting, gardening, and design. Her home in Surprise looked like a spread straight out of a Sedona Design magazine. An avid reader, Sybil was herself an encyclopedia on the history of the southwest US, cooking, the Civil War, and many other areas. Sybil Russell was preceded in death by her wonderful husband Phil of 64 years, her parents Arthur and Juanita Crownover, daughter Pam, sister MaryAnn, and her brother Art Lee. She is survived by her son Clay, daughter-in-law Barbara, and grandson Grant, all of Farmers Branch, Texas; her nephew Tom, and of course, Misty the Bossy Cat. A private interment will be held at the Ft. Bayard National Cemetery near Silver City, NM, on a later date. In lieu of flowers, Sybils family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, or the Alzheimers Foundation in her honor.
