He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Lewis and Billie Lou (Evans) Sykes. He is survived by his loving spouse, Patricia (Juge) Sykes, two children, Stacy Marie Rose (Timothy) and Jonathan Lewis Sykes (Debra). To grandchildren Beth and Matthew (The Keeper) Rose and Ashleigh and Madelyn Sykes, he was Paw-Paw. To sister Diane Peters (Raymond), he was Bubba. He was an inspiration to all of us, including his nieces and nephews.Ron was an engineering graduate of Louisiana State University and a proud Veteran of the Vietnam War. His career with Halliburton Services spanned Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. He enjoyed all music (especially jazz), playing golf, taking and developing photos, and telling a good joke. His sense of humor, evidenced by his big smile, was a source of great levity for all those around him. A long time member of First Baptist Church Carrollton, Ron cherished his church family. He loved church. He was particularly fond of his preacher, Brent, and clearly enjoyed kisses from the ladies on Sunday mornings. His faith in Christ was solid, and he never shied away from expressing it. He always said Jesus loved him more than any one on Earth.Ron was blessed with two long time helpers, Petra and Carmen. They were like family; we are forever grateful for their love and care. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses who cared for Ron through the years and a special thanks to those at the Dallas VA whose support was such a blessing.
