Colonel Lloyd Arnold Tholen of Dallas, Texas passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017 at the age of 91.Services for Colonel Tholen are scheduled for 3:00pm, Friday, July 14, 2017 at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211with full military honors.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Irene Tholen on September 12, 2014.He is survived by his son, Dr. Mark Tholen of Dallas,daughter-in-law,Peggy, granddaughter, Jill (husband Brent), grandsonPaul (and wife Pamela), and great granddaughters Annie and Erin.
Colonel Tholen retired after 30 years with the United States Air Force serving in a multitude of managerial duties during his tenure in the U.S. Air Force. He received his wings in 1951 and served in four fighter squadrons (he was on flying status until 1966) before obtaining a law degree and negotiating contracts for the U.S. Air Force.
Earlier memories of him were in his flying suit and boots carrying his helmet and gear in two official bags with the impressive pistol and knife strapped to his side and leg.Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
