Obituary

Ronald Lee Thompson, surrounded by his family, left his earthly body behind on February 1, 2017 at the age of 54 to join his passed away and Savior. Ronnie was born on February 17, 1962 to Windell Lee and Brenda Sue Thompson. He was born one minute before his twin sister. He tried to return the minute to her when he turned 50 but she declined it.Ronnie grew up in Amarillo, Texas, and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1980. Always the quintessential jack of all trades, Ronnie excelled in shop class, and later became a highly proficient welder. He worked for his fathers tree trimming and pest control business after school. He also had his own lawn mowing business. He could do anything and he did it well. But his passion was always cars. Fast cars. He spent over 25 years as an automotive technician with most of that time being at Sewell Motor Company in Dallas. The Sewell family went above and beyond in caring and supporting Ronnie throughout his illness. Ronnie met Nancy Carolyn Nall at Tascosa High School. They wed on March 4, 1983 and moved to the Dallas area where they have lived ever since. Their son, Jacob Walker Thompson, was born in 1994. Jacob was Ronnies proudest accomplishment.Ronnie was diagnosed and successfully fought lymphoblastic lymphoma in 1985. He was always thankful to Dr. Robert Mennel for giving him another 30 years to live, love and raise his family. In 2014 Ronnie was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrigs Disease), and as 2 Timothy 4:7 says, He fought the good fight, he finished the race, and he kept the faith.Although Ronnies body was failing, he remained a loving mentor and example to all those around him. Ronnie is now in heaven doing all the things his earthly body could no longer do: riding motorcycles, driving muscle cars, climbing trees, water skiing and watching over his family.Ronnie leaves behind his wife, Nancy, and son, Jacob, his parents, Windell and Brenda Thompson, his twin sister, Rhonda Mercer, his brother, Steve Thompson, and wife Raonna, countless friends and other family including the nieces and nephews that he loved beyond measure: Hollye Seabolt and husband Cary, Britney Ratto and husband Bo, Hannah Thompson, Seth Thompson, Rachel Nall, David Nall, Michael Nall, Melinda Robertson and Shannon Robertson. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Carolyn Nall, and her mother, Elbie Heard, andhis brother-in-law, Joe Nall, and wife Catherine. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the ALS Association of Texas, Muscular Dystrophy Association (who supports ALS efforts), or The Lymphoma and Leukemia Society.
