Passed away June 19, 2011 in Dallas, Texas. Walt was born August 9, 1925 to Walter (Pete) and Bettina (Betty) Van Orden in Eugene, Oregon. He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Diana & Robert Gats of Dallas, Texas and Annette and Pickett Wright of Edenton, North Carolina, and one very special grandson, Brian Gats of Tampa, Florida. Walt's wife Jeannepreceded him in death on September 29, 2007. Walter and Jeanne were married May 23, 1947 in Salem, Oregon and on May 23, 2007 celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. As an engineer who worked heavy construction he and Jeanne moved and traveled to many places. Most memorable was his ability to remember dates and years. Walt was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. A specialthanks to all of those at TheBentley, an independent living establishment, who have been hisfriends and made his life since October 2010, very enjoyable. A viewing is scheduled for June 22, 2011 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel at the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.
