Van Ashley Neinast, age 65, of Richardson, Texas, passed away at home on February 23, 2025.

Van was born on February 13, 1960, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to James Weldon and Wanda Pace Neinast. When he was seven, his family moved to Amarillo. After graduating from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, he began his career at Arthur Young in Dallas. He married Margaret Lee McNabb on November 12, 1988.

Van and Margaret met in Dallas, introduced by a mutual friend. They settled in Richardson where they raised two sons together. He was an accountant, consultant, and financial systems manager. He was also an active member of St. Matthias church for over 25 years where he volunteered for various ministries.

Van enjoyed travel, explored many hobbies including cycling and shooting, and cooked excellent holiday meals for friends and family. The family treasures memories of attending baseball games and trips to New Braunfels, as well as New Mexico and Colorado. He and his wife Margaret enjoyed traveling to Europe, Japan, Turkey and Israel, as well as driving to Mt. Rushmore, Glacier National Park, and Moab, Utah.

Van dearly loved his family. He never wavered on any responsibility he was given, and worked diligently to provide them a beautiful, happy life.

Van is survived by his wife Margaret, and children: Michael Neinast of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; William (Reed) Neinast and his wife Maddie, of Sugar Land, Texas; and granddaughter Rosalie; as well as sisters Mickye Zachary of Murphy and Patti Eaves of Amarillo, and his brother, Joe Neinast of Lubbock.

A Solemn High Requiem Mass for Van will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8th, 2025 at St. Matthias' Church, 3460 Forest Lane, Dallas, Texas 75234. A reception will follow at the church.
