Elizabeth Jane VanDeventer of Addison, Texas passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 at the age of 74.If there is a special place in heaven for extraordinary women, Jane has arrived leaving behind her partner and best friend of 35+ years, fur babies: Nick, Casey, and Zipper, and countless friends and family that she loved and cherished. She is preceded in death by her parents, inspiring grandmother, Charlie Masterson, brother, Bill VanDeventer, sister, Bobby Jack Sutphin, and nephew, Robert Sutphin. Numerous beloved nieces and nephews survive Jane.Jane was born November 26, 1945 in Goosecreek (Baytown) Texas. She graduated as class president from Texas Womans University in 1967. Her extensive career included: early childhood teacher; Head Start Coordinator; co-author of two musicals, Once Upon a Summer and The Magic of Peter Pan. (The productions of the Magic of Peter Pan raised more than $10,000 for the Aids Project at the Oak Lawn Counseling Center); founder of Plus Experiences, providing numerous fun experiences to those involved; Coordinator of the Jail Education Program through ElCentro College; and instructor at ElCentro and Brookhaven Colleges.Jane dedicated her time on earth to creating a better life for others, including animals (she was called a dog whisperer by many friends). She loved her fur babies beyond words, and the love was happily reciprocated. In addition to devotion to the pets, Jane loved to travel, enjoy special times with friends, work in the office, dining out, and spending evenings by the pool talking, listening to music and cuddling Nick, Casey, and Zipper.A special note of gratitude to friends, Buddy Papaleo, Pam Porter, Mary Lou Anders, Linda Yater, nephew, Greg Sutphin, and niece, Lynn Crane, for the love and care extended to Jane throughout her illness.Janes celebration will be held at 2:00 on February 22, 2020 at the Cathedral of Light, 2570 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch Texas 75234.
