Obituary

Virginia Faye Bradsher Hodnett of Farmers Branch, Texas, passed peacefully away on Monday, August 17, 2026, at her home of 56 years, at the age of. She was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, in 1944. She attended Ouachita University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She met and married Howell Kenneth Hodnett on February 16, 1964. Soon after, Virginia followed him to the Philippines for 2 years, as he was a Naval Lieutenant in the United States Military. In 1966, the newlyweds moved back to Texas and settled in Farmers Branch, where they lived for 44 years until Ken’s death. She continued to live in their beautiful home until she passed.

Virginia was always a kind, loving, and generous member of the community. She enjoyed crocheting and needlepoint while watching the Rangers & Cowboys games. She loved making her delicious pumpkin bread, Chex mix, and treat bags to share with her neighbors, friends, family, church, and the local fire department and police department. She worked at Sears for 20 years and Target for 18 years. She enjoyed meeting new people and working with her many friends at Target until she retired at 65.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ken Hodnett; her parents: Winnard & Inez Sumners and her sister Jean Griffin. She is survived by her children Kevin Hodnett of Waldron, Arkansas—his children: Logan & (wife) Angel Hodnett & their children: Greenlee & Bentley Wells & Taylor Hodnett of Searcy, Arkansas; Kayla Hodnett & her children Skyler & Kaiden Woods of Searcy, Arkansas; Derrick & (wife) Kimberly Hodnett of Frisco, Tx & their children: Brayden & Bailee Hodnett;

Visitation is Saturday, September 19, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.- 3:45 p.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow at 4:00 p.m. at North Dallas Funeral Home at 2710 Valley View Lane in Farmers Branch, Texas. A Reception will follow at the First Baptist Church at 13017 William Dodson Pkwy. Private internment at the DFW National Cemetery at a later date.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the life she lived and the lives she touched. The family would appreciate your thoughts, stories, and condolences about Virginia in the guest book created through this site. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Virginia’s memory to First Baptist Church of Farmers Branch or Children’s Medical Center, her favorite organization.
