William T. Washington Sr.of Dallas, Texas passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the age of 78; he was born to Mr. Sam and Edith Washington on November 24, 1939.William accepted Christ at an early age at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Brookhaven, Mississippi. He attended the Brookhaven School District and graduated from Alexander High School Brookhaven, Mississippi in 1959 where he served as the Senior Class President. William attended Alcorn State University Lorman, Mississippi (1959-1961).Mr. William Washington Sr. served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1972.Heunited in Holy Matrimony with Ms. Ruth A. Busby on March 26,1964. To this union five children were born all residing in Dallas, Texas. William was a member of New Jerusalem Methodist Church under the leadership of Rev. Joe Robbins, currently officiating Senior Pastor, Phea Kennedy.William retired from Neiman Marcus after 17 years of wonderful service as a Packing Support where he brought joy and laughter. He never met a stranger. William was well respected and he treated everyone fairly. He was known to simply Tell it like it is! He pulled no punches, and he didnt hold back. William loved music, the Temptations and OJays were two of his favorite groups. His favorite past times before he became ill was playing pool, and family BBQs. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.William is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Edith Washington; siblings, Sam Washington Jr., Irma Washington Dillon- Benjamin , Charles Washington and Hazel Sanders.He leaves to cherish his memories; wife of 54 years, Ruth Washington; children, William Terry Washington Jr., Rosalin Washington, Darryl Washington, Derrick Washington, and LaKesha Washington Smith (Kevin Smith); five grandchildren, Brandon, Deziree, Chelsei, Darrian (Houston, Tx) and DaraKnique; three great grandchildren; Ashton, McKenzei and Mekhi , all residing in Dallas, Texas; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.Visitation and viewing will be on Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.Funeral services will be on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 11:00 am at the funeral home.Interment with military honors, will follow the services at 2:00 pm at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
