John Quincy AdamsHerbert Henry Weidinger, 80, of Carrollton, TX, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017. Herb was born in Chicago, IL to German immigrant parents, Andrew and Emma (Schroeder) Weidinger on June 9, 1936. Herb married his college sweetheart, Beverly Ann Conlon on February 9, 1957. Herb and Bev were fortunate to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary before Herbs passing.Herb graduated from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa and later earned Masters Degrees from both SMU and UTD in Dallas, TX. Herb worked as a credit manager for several companies including Halliburton and Otis Engineering. He retired from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as an Environmental Specialist.Herb was devoted to God, family and his community. Herb served 10 years on the Farmers Branch City Council, and another 10 years on the Carrollton City Council. One of his proudest moments was meeting the Queen of England as a representative of the City of Farmers Branch in the Sister City Program. Herb was also instrumental in the creation of the historical park in Farmers Branch. He also served as a Director of the Senior Adult Services, and devoted his time to many community boards, including the Metrocrest Social Services (where he was proudly named Volunteer of the Year in 2013), the Metrocrest Community Clinic, City Council liaison to the Metrocrest Hospital Authority, and President of his local homeowners association.Herb was also a devoted community volunteer. As President of the Carrollton Lions Club, he would volunteer his time helping fit eyeglasses for local children, packing school supplies and selling pancakes as a school fundraiser. At the Metrocrest Social Services, he would help bag groceries and helping with other senior citizens.Herb was very active in his church, Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, where he and Bev have been parishioners since 1967. Herb was a member of the Knights of Columbus, served on the Church Finance Committee and most Sundays, you could find him on the altar preparing the gifts or presenting the readings.Herb is survived by his wife, Beverly Ann Weidinger; son David Andrew Weidinger, daughters Kathleen Ann Foster (Bennett) and Anita Louise McDaniel (Christian); five grandchildren: brothers Matthew and Christopher Moore and Benjamin Smith; and Andrew and Courtney Nicole Foster; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Rosary will be held at 10:00 am Friday, March 3, 2017 at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Farmers Branch, TX with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. A reception will follow at the Church.In lieu of flowers, you make donations in Herbs name to the Metrocrest Social Services.Herb enjoyed golf, the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers and the Chicago Cubs.
