William E. McCord, 86, of Corinth, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026.
William was born on September 9, 1939, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, to Rosa E. Stoltenberg and Robert E. Lee McCord. He graduated from Sterling High School and joined the U.S. Army Reserve in 1956, serving for four years before entering active duty in 1960.
During his military career, William proudly served his country in the Vietnam War, where he met his wife, Carol. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1981 after more than 20 years of dedicated service. Throughout his distinguished military career, he attained the rank of Sergeant First Class and received numerous honors and awards, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Silver Service Stars and one Bronze Service Star, Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Armed Forces Honor Medal, 2nd Class, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and the Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Medal.
William enjoyed painting and traveling with his beloved dog, Bonnie. If Bonnie could not go, neither would he. He will be remembered most for his kind heart, generous spirit, and willingness to help anyone in need.

He is survived by his children, Yen Brown, Thomas McCord, and Renee Phillips; his grandchildren, Casey Brown, Matthew Phillips, and Allison Phillips; and his great-grandchildren, Andrew, Charlotte, Henry, Evianna, Lennyx, Hazel, and Cody.
