Obituary

William Randolph Ransone, known as Randy age 77, passed away on June 11, 2024. He was born in Dallas, Texas July 14, 1946, to William Robert and Eleanor Macatee Ransone.

He is preceded in death by his father William Robert Ransone, mother Elanor Macatee Ransone, his sister Marie Louise Ransone brother Julien Robert Ransone and his grandson Winston Drake Coleman as well as his lifelong friends Kenneth Mulkey, Bill Warren, Royce Massingill, and George Stumpff who were all gentlemen and great outdoorsmen. Randy graduated from Highland Park high school in 1964 where he met his beloved wife of 60 years, Susan Messmore Ransone. We moved to Austin, TX. Where he attended The University of Texas and belonged to the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He then

graduated February 1969 with a BA in history, sociology, and psychology.

We returned to Dallas where he started a job with Sentry Insurance as a Commercial Insurance Underwriter. After four years, he decided to try his hand in custom home building and became a member of The Dallas Home and Apartment Builders Association. In this career path he built and remolded homes in the Richardson and Plano area for eleven years with the help of his beloved wife, Susan. One of his remolded homes was on the cover of D magazine.

He then participated in his family Oil and Gas business with his father Bill Ransone and brother Robert Ransone. His title was Vice President and Field Operations Manager.

His next career path took him to eleven years with Payless Cashways as the Department Manager for Paint then Tools and Hardware. Followed by seven years with Texas Paint and Wallpaper. He and Susan helped revise the family Oil and Gas Properties Trust beginning in 2010.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He was a member of the Coon Creek Club for 45 years. In his younger years, he enjoyed Hot Rodding and exhibited his 36 Ford in eight Auto Rama's. He spent many Summers at Martin's Ranch in Pecos New Mexico where he enjoyed fly fishing.

Randy is survived by his loving wife Susan, his daughter Barbara and her husband Todd Coleman, and his sister-in-law Pam Kvarnstrom. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Patti Ransone, her children, Chandler, Meridith, Heather and niece Emily Ransone.

One of Randy's favorite quotes is by John Taffin. "Keep the campfires burning, the beans bubbling, the bacon sizzling and I'll see you soon when I cross the river."
