Bob C. Williams of Carrollton, Texas passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016 at the age of 86.Bobwas born in Tuxedo, Texas, on October 20, 1929, near the big cities of Stamford and Hamlin. Bob lived life at a furious pace. He started by enlisting in the Army after graduating Stamford High School and then marrying his high school sweetheart, Joy, in 1949. He earned accreditation in banking and began his career as a bank examiner for the southwest district which included Texas and New Mexico. In order to cover that much territory, Bob earned his pilots license and flew a J3 Cub and a Mooney for many years. He became quite proficient in cross wind landings in West Texas! Frequently, he and friends would fly their planes to South Dakota, land on a gravel road, get their limits, and then return to the Texas panhandle. In 1960, Bob left the examiners and founded banks in Pampa and Plainview, Texas. He also farmed sugar beets and watermelons outside of Dumas, Texas, he loved to fly his plane over the fields. In 1969, Aetna offered Bob a position as a liaison to the farmers of southeastern Colorado for the water distribution from the western slope, so he moved his family to Colorado Springs. Between 1969 and 1977, Bob was president of several banks in Colorado Springs. Also during that time, Bobs love of farming and ranching came together with a large cattle and farm complex east of Colorado Springs. During that time, he hosted the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo astronauts from NASA out at the ranch for hunting and great times. Bob loved working the ranch with his daughter, Meridyn, and together they maintained over 4000 acres with several thousand cattle and hundreds of buffalo. Bob also enjoyed golf and played in several pro-am tournaments. In 1977. Bob and a family member formed an oil exploration company that in 1981 was noted on the cover of Inc. magazine as one of the fastest growing companies in the U.S. In 1984, Bob left the company as a result of the oil downturn and returned to the FDIC to help resolve the oil & gas loans at banks in Midland, Texasand Chicago. After that, Bob and his son, Reid, started a new oil production company that is now in its 29th year.Bob is preceded in deathby his wife, of 64 years, Marilyn Joy Agnew Williams; his parents, Roy and Cassie Williams; andhis brother, Royce Williams of Haskell, Texas. He is survived by his two children, daughter, Meridyn Pickett and her husband, David of Kingston, Oklahoma; and son, Reid Williams and his wife, Jo Ann of Shreveport, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Jason Williams, Joyanne Edgerley and her husband, Kyle of Dallas, Texas, Sam Williams of Shreveport, Louisiana; and one great grandchild, Cheyenne Edgerley. Also left to remember Bob, is the loving staff at Atria Senior Living and all those residents, his friends, who helped make his life a bit more pleasant in his last two years.Bob took on every challenge except the hardest one quitting cigarettes smoking until his final day, September 9.Visitation will be on Sunday, September18, 2016 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.Interment, with military honors, will be on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 9:30 am at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.Memorial Service will be Monday, September 19, 2016 at 11:30 am at Marsh Lane Baptist Church, 10716 Marsh Lane, Dallas, Texas 75229.Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
