Mary Waynne (Lloyd) Wolaver of Carrollton, Texas passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the age of 77.Mary was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 28, 1938. She was the first child of Howell "Kyle" Lloyd and Margaret "Grace" Leming Lloyd. She was named after each sister of her parents; Mary after her mother's sister, and Waynne after her father's sister. She always felt her middle name was too masculine, even with the feminine spelling. She seldom used it even though it was part of her legal name.Mary attended John Burroughs Elementary School, Roosevelt Junior High and Tulsa Central High School. Her higher education was obtained through Tulsa University where she graduated in the class of 1959. Mary was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. In 1960 she was married to William Wolaver, Jr., a Tulsa Architect. They later divorced and Mary never remarried. They had no children. Her career began when she was hired as the Membership Director at Indian Springs Country Club, Broken Arrow, OK. The club was later purchased by Club Corporation of America (CCA), a Dallas based company with many clubs over the USA.Later, CCA transferred her to Dallas where she worked at University City Club, Brookhaven Country Club and Canyon Creek Country Club. Her final assignment with CCA was in the CCA corporate office. Throughout her decades of work in membership sales, membership social planning and hospitality, Mary had found her niche.Three months after retiring from CCA she decided she wasn't quite ready to REALLY retire just yet. She began working at Saint Josephs Village, a senior retirement community. This time her sales were apartments and cottages for senior citizens. She helped plan social events too and many of the activities for the residents. She enjoyed the eight years she was there.Mary loved dogs and through the years she had several. When one "crossed over the rainbow bridge" it wouldn't be long before another dog was rescued from a shelter or similar place. Her dogs were her children and everyone knew it.Family and friends were treated to many meals at Mary's home whether it was holidays, birthdays or just because she wanted to do so. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed having people around her.She loved having her niece and two nephews over and when they were teenagers allowed them to do things her sister would have said "no" to. She often encouraged them as they grew up.Friends enjoyed not only the meals but wine parties, walking their dogs together, movies at her house, day trips, shopping, shopping and more shopping. "Target" may go out of business without her!For years Mary struggled with COPD. Breathing became harder and harder and oxygen at night began eight years ago, followed in a few more years 24/7. Eventually the gardening and cooking she had enjoyed were no longer possible. The dog walking too, now had to be done by others. As the COPD advanced Mary chose to go on Hospice care in June, 2014. Her primary care givers were her nephew, Sean Rohde and his wife, Anita. They were available for her day and night, often staying 24/7 many weeks at a time during exacerbations of this incedious disease. The afternoon of August 4, 2016, her passed away and Savior called her home. The years of coughing and sickness were over and she was set free.Mary was a 30 year active member of All Saints Catholic Church. Every Wednesday she enjoyed her Bible Study group there and made friends among the members.Mary made two request regarding things to do after her death. The first was that her body be cremated. The second was that in lieu of flowers, she wanted family and friends to get their own favorite flowers, tree or lawn ornament, and put in their yards in memory of her.Mary was preceded in death by both her parents; her stepmother, Marguerite Lloyd Lane and 3 great nephews/niece (Alex, Stephanie, and Kevin Rohde). She is survived by her sister, Sister Sharon Rohde; nephews and their wives, Richard and Julianna Rohde and Sean C. and Anita Rohde; and her niece and partner, Carmen (Carrie) Lytle and Roger Orton. Also 8 great nieces and great nephews as well as many friends and her precious dog, Gaylen. We will all miss her.
