Natalie Margaret Peggy (Holbert) Wortham peacefully departed this life Sunday, June 11, two days after celebrating her 70th birthday. On both occasions, she was lovingly surrounded by family, friends as well as the kind caregivers of Medical City Dallas. Three longtime friends, Loraine Ouellette, Sandra Trostel and Bonnie Kiefel were constant companions and advocates during her hospitalization.Peggy, a recent resident of Frisco, Texas, was born in Dallas, Texas on June 9, 1947, and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1965. She received her degree from Texas A&M at Commerce, formerly East Texas State University and was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.Peggy began her work life as a physical education teacher in Dallas, where she taught for several years. In 1978, she became an employee of American Airlines and enjoyed a 34-year career, holding various positions during her years of service. She retired in 2012 and followed her passion for sports to become a tour guide at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.Peggys love for sports was lifelong. As a youngster, she was often a better baseball player than most of her male counterparts. Whatever the season, she followed her favorite teams in person and on radio and television, often communicating via text with her play-by-play sports buddies. She also enjoyed target shooting and was a go-to for friends and relatives on matters of technology and gadgets electronic.Peggy made friends easily and was a loyal, thoughtful friend. She possessed a kind, fun-loving spirit and keen sense of humor which drew others to her. Co-workers, too, loved the joy and light she brought to the workplace. Friendships and family were important to Peggy and she continually reached out and nurtured those relationships.Natalie Margaret is preceded in death by her parents Natalie and Webb Holbert, and also her brother Webb Holbert. She is survived by her son Kyle Wortham and wife Shawna, and three grandchildren, Callie, Audrey and Chance of Mineral Wells. Also surviving Peggy is her sister, Ann Soutter of Dallas, a niece Leigh Soutter of California, and two nephews Michael Soutter of Dallas, and Christopher Holbert of Fort Worth, as well as a multitude of loving friends whom she cherished throughout her life. Peggys loyal, canine companion, Abby, will certainly miss her and is being well-cared for in a familiar setting.Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:30 am on Thursday, June 15, 2017 in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:30 am immediately following the visitation.
