Yee, NormanNorman Joe Yee, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, died peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 60 in Plano, Texas on December 18, 2014 of pancreatic cancer.Norman, the fourth of six children was born April 14, 1954, in Wichita, Kansas. He was raised in Denver, Colorado, loved growing up near the mountains, and graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with degrees in Civil Engineering and Finance. On June 17, 1979, he married Julie Anne Combs, and their marriage was blessed with two children, Jeffrey and Tracy.Norman's career began at Mobil Oil where he started as a pipeline engineer in 1980 in Dallas, Texas. Norman's career progression took him through assignments in Dallas, Harrisburg PA, Beaumont TX, Los Angeles, and Houston with ever increasing levels of responsibility including technical, commercial, and management assignments. Among Norman's many significant accomplishments during his Mobil career was his key role in a substantial organizational redesign merging several Mobil downstream business lines into one organization as a precursor to the eventual merger with Exxon.In 2000, after Mobil merged and became ExxonMobil, Norman successfully developed and executed several large, multi-million dollar projects for the corporation. Through his work, he became a well-respected and industry-wide recognized subject matter expert developing pipeline design standards and practices still in use by the industry today. Additionally, Norman was often called upon for his pipeline expertise in litigation matters. Often thought of as quiet, Norman had quite a playful and mischievous sense of humor as noted by his colleagues and friends. He relished his role as a mentor to the younger engineers and his legacy at ExxonMobil will endure. Norman's took his family from coast to coast before finally settling in Plano, Texas. After 34 years of being a pipeline engineer, he retired in December, 2013.Norman enjoyed spending time with his family. On the weekends, you would often find Norman in the garage maintaining the family cars; you could tell it was a hobby of his as he always acquired the auto repair manual for each car he purchased. When he wasn't working on the family cars, he could often be found helping friends with their own repair issues. Norman could handle most anything when it came to car repairs, which is why he loved watching NASCAR and Formula 1 races. When he did get a chance to relax inside, he loved watching spectator sports.Norman is preceded in death by his father, Joe Yee. Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Julie, and two children, Jeffrey and Tracy. He is also survived by his mother, Choy Wan Yee and siblings Evan (Joyce) Ma, Don (Shirley) Yee, Raymond (Barbara) Yee, Ada (Michael) Brogan and Thomas (Irene) Yee.As Norman's request, there will be no memorial service; but a celebration of Norman's life will be held in Denver, Colorado for family members.
