Salvador Antonio Zavala of Carrollton, Texas passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 in Plano, Texas. He was 85 years old. Salvador was born in El Paso, Texas on May 10, 1928 to his parents, Victoriano and Isabel (Silva) Zavala. He enlisted in to the United States Navy on June 12, 1943 and served until February 21, 1946 with a honorable discharge. He received 6 stars for serving in the Asiatic Pacific Area and 1 star for Philippine Liberation. Salvador received the Victory Medal for World War II. He is survived by his 3 sons, Richard, Dale and Alma Zavala and many other family and friends. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234. A graveside service, with honors, will be held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, Texas on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 1:00 pm, 5200 Fred Wilson Blvd., El Paso, Texas 79906.
