Obituary of Parkey, Martha Jane "Marty"

Martha Jane Parkey “Marty” was born on January 31, 1948 in Las Cruces, New Mexico to the late Jessie and Charlotte Arnold.   She passed away on August 29, 2014 in Carrollton, Texas. Marty retired from Southwestern Medical School after 30 years of employment.  She was a loving, giving, Christian woman and devoted wife, mom, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.  Marty never met a stranger and loved people. She is survived by her husband Jim Parkey and daughters Heather Shannon and Mandy Noland along with their spouses Chris Shannon and Paul Noland.  She is also survived by her three beloved grandchildren Avery and Kenzie Shannon, and Colin Noland. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas, TX at 1:00 p.m.   In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Marty’s honor to Rio Bravo Ministry (https://www.rio-bravo.org) where Marty loved going on the Mexico mission trip with students from Trinity Christian Academy.   Please send condolences to the family on this site.

What a dear friend Marty was to us. Her bright smile, laughter and always positive attitude will be truly missed. I do know that she rests now in the arms of angels in the presence of the Lord, thank you Jesus for holding her family close during this time. May you all know how much we love you all and are praying for comfort for each of you. I’m truly happy to know one day I will be met by my dear friend in heaven. Until then we hold your memories dear to our hearts.

I met Marty when my family lived across the street from her parents in Mesquite many years ago. She was a ray of sunshine – always happy and loving. She was a wonderful daughter who took such good care of parents. I am thankful that I knew her and know she has left a wonderful lacey in her daughters and grandchildren. Jim, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
